Understanding both the appeals function and the alternative dispute resolution process, including a discussion of how mediation is used to enhance the chances for case resolution, can produce positive and cost-effective results for your clients, especially in the current atmosphere of increased of IRS enforcement. This course teaches key skills that will be a valuable addition to your suite of representation tools and should serve as an additional profit center for many tax professionals.New this year are discussions of best practices to navigate the path from Exam to Appeals; burden of proof under law and burden of persuasion through the administrative process; ex parte communications; how rules of evidence affect a hazards analysis; and mediation application and settlement particulars. Additionally, more focus is given to the appeals conference and mediation in the ADR context.
